Post-Quantum Cryptography Summer School

We are pleased to announce the Post‑Quantum Cryptography Summer School, an affiliated event taking place 6–7 July 2026, just before AfricaCrypt 2026. The summer school will be held in Hammamet, at the same hotel hosting the conference, making it easy for participants to attend both events.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR) for their generous sponsorship. Their support strengthens our mission to foster advanced cryptographic research and to empower the next generation of scholars from Africa and beyond.

This two‑day program is designed to introduce participants to the foundations and current directions of post‑quantum cryptography, a rapidly evolving field preparing cryptography for the quantum era. The sessions will cover four major families of quantum‑resistant primitives:

  • Symmetric Cryptography
  • Introduction to Lattice‑Based Cryptography
  • Introduction to Isogeny‑Based Cryptography

The lectures will be delivered by internationally recognized researchers in these areas:

  • Elena Kirshanova, Technology Innovation Institute (TII), UAE
  • Sébastien Canard, Télécom Paris, France
  • Maria Naya‑Plasencia, INRIA Paris, France
  • Peter Schwabe, Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy, Germany & Radboud University, Netherlands
  • Benjamin Wesolowski, ENS Lyon, France

The detailed schedule will be announced soon. Please note that the program may be subject to minor adjustments as we finalize it.

Registration

African Students

We are committed to supporting the growth of cryptography research across the continent. For this reason, registration to the summer school is free for African students. Students from Africa who require accommodation during the summer school may send an email to africacrypt2026(at)gmail.com.

Update: We have been truly encouraged by the strong interest and the many requests we received this year. Because of this high demand, all available financial support grants have now been allocated. The Summer School remains free of charge for African students, but we are unfortunately no longer able to cover accommodation. We sincerely regret that we cannot offer additional funding at this time, and we thank you for your understanding.

Other participants

For other participants, the registration fee for the summer school will be 50€.

All summer school participants are kindly asked to register through the same registration process used for the Africacrypt conference.

Whether you are new to post‑quantum cryptography or looking to strengthen your understanding before the main conference, this summer school offers an excellent opportunity to learn from experts and connect with the AfricaCrypt community.

Stay tuned for more updates, we look forward to welcoming you in Hammamet this July.
